Sahabat Dementia (Dementia Friends) is a community programme which facilitates the creation of dementia-friendly communities across Indonesia. Everyone, from governments and schools to the local shop and transport, share part of the responsibility for ensuring that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community. In 2015, Alzheimer’s Indonesia launched the Dementia Friendly Jakarta project with the support of the city’s Governor. The initiative is based around the delivery of a one-hour Dementia Friends training programme for the public, with more specific training for government staff, shop and bank staff, police, health workers, religious advocates and students. Now we have Dementia Friendly support groups in 18 cities in Indonesia, Europe and USA.
Dementia Friends in Indonesian Community in The Netherlands started in 2016 and keep continuing it’s activities through Indonesian Social, Cultural, Religious and many other Communities.
